James is currently General Counsel & Company Secretary at Darktrace Plc.

James qualified as a solicitor at Linklaters in 2001 before working in the corporate department for several years advising blue chip clients on major transactions. After this, he took his first in-house role working at BP in the M&A legal team advising on multinational projects. Subsequently James worked with Sir Rod supporting the establishment of the Aldridge family office before joining the legal team at Just Eat in 2013 to 2021.

James has a Law degree from St Catharine’s college, Cambridge and a Law Diploma from Nottingham Law School.
