Darwen Aldridge Community Academy is an original sponsored Academy and opened in September 2008. An innovative 11-18 state-funded independent school we specialise in Entrepreneurship and Sport and offer a unique type of secondary education provision in the town of Darwen, situated in Pennine Lancashire. In addition, we opened a new Sixth Form, a community learning programme and a business incubation centre devoted to young people. We seek to develop a passion for learning as well as an enterprising spirit, and encourage our students to recognise the potential that they have, and then to fulfil that potential.

Due to the continued success of our Personalised Learning Centre we are looking to employ a teacher with the management and motivational skills to inspire students at School Action Plus to make at least three levels progress through Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The successful candidate will deliver at least one GCSE curriculum to small classes and will support each student with their learning using differentiated and innovative curriculum strategies. The Personalised Learning Centre is an off-site provision which offers a full time curriculum to students who required additional support to achieve their targets. Currently 100% of our 2013 cohort are on target to achieve 5+A*-C at GCSE of which 60% are on target to include English and Mathematics. We require a teacher who can create an emotionally safe environment for their students ensuring that each of them achieve their full academic potential.

TEACHER OF DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY: CREATIVE TEXTILES & FASHION

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Creative Textiles and Fashion to join our committed team of specialist staff in the Technology Faculty. The successful candidate will have a willingness and flexibility to offer the teaching of Creative Textiles at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, and an interest in Fashion, whether clothing, fabric, footwear or design based. An ability to motivate and inspire students through their love of their subject, as well as a commitment to raising standards, is essential. The successful candidate will have suitably qualified / experienced with the flexibility to offer teaching across the age, ability and subject range. Teaching will include Key Stage 3 Humanities, and the teaching of Psychology and Sociology at KS4 and 5. The ability to motivate students through a sound understanding and genuine enthusiasm and passion for Psychology, Sociology and the Humanities is essential.

The successful candidate will have the flexibility to offer teaching across the age, gender, ability and subject range. Teaching will include Key Stage 3 Physical Education, and the teaching of A-Level Physical Education, BTEC Sport and Public Services at KS4 and 5 is available for a suitably qualified/ experienced candidate. The ability to motivate students through a sound understanding and genuine enthusiasm and passion for all the National Curriculum subject areas in Physical Education is essential.

Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio is a new 14-19 Studio School based in Darwen, Lancashire, specialising in Business and Creative Digital Technologies.   Opening in September 2013, we will be a small school (300 capacity) for young people of all abilities.

 

We are seeking two Personal Coaches who can build positive relationships with our students to ensure that they are equipped with the skills that they need for life and work. As a Personal Coach, you will inspire and motivate individuals on a one to one and group basis, monitoring their personal development through skills assessment and individual learning plans.

We are looking for people who have the right skills and attributes to contribute to the overall learning experience of each student.  The post may suit people from backgrounds in learner support, pastoral and student welfare, IAG, youth and community work or with business mentoring / HR experience.

LEARNING COACHES

Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio is a new 14-19 Studio School based in Darwen, Lancashire, specialising in Business and Creative Digital Technologies.

 

Opening in September 2013, we will be a small school (300 capacity) for young people of all abilities.  Alongside GCSEs and A Levels, the Studio will offer a professionally-focused curriculum, developing students’ employability skills and engaging them with local businesses.  Our approach will be cross-curricular wherever possible, with a focus on Project-Based Learning and ‘real life’ challenges. 

 

We are seeking ambitious, flexible, committed and talented teachers to help drive our innovative curriculum.  We need people with a ’can do’ approach, and a real desire to bring out the best in young people, whatever it takes.  We are initially recruiting to the following posts, but our staffing needs will expand rapidly as the school develops.

 

·         Learning Coach: English & Media:  0.6 FTE

·         Learning Coach: Business & ICT:  0.8 FTE

·         Learning Coach: Mathematics:  0.5 FTE

·         Learning Coach: Science:  0.5 FTE

The Aldridge Foundation is a charity which uses entrepreneurship as a catalyst for lasting social change. We are currently seeking applications for 8 – 20 week full-time internships at our small central London office, starting in …. Interns support the work of the Foundation and our 5 Academies and 3 other colleges in England. Tasks will include updating, preparing and adding content to websites; assisting with the distribution of press releases; Twitter and other social media marketing; assisting in the preparation of Awards entries; and helping to develop our printed publications.

 

Experience of and interest in using social media is essential. Experience of programs such as Wordpress or Joomla would also be an advantage.
